More than two decades helping people protect what they've worked a lifetime to build.
Most people spend decades learning how to build wealth. Very few are ever taught how to protect it. That's the gap I've dedicated my career to helping people close.
The closer retirement gets, the more the conversation changes.
For more than two decades, I've worked with individuals and families preparing for retirement. During that time, I've watched people experience incredible market growth, celebrate new highs, and build retirement accounts they never imagined possible. I've also watched what happens when people approach retirement with the same investment mindset they had thirty years earlier.
It's no longer just about growing your money. It's about protecting the lifestyle you've worked so hard to create, generating dependable income, reducing unnecessary taxes, and making sure your spouse and family are protected. And it's about making decisions with confidence instead of uncertainty. That's why I created the Plant the Flag™ System.
My philosophy
One idea has guided my work from the very beginning: education should always come before recommendations. You deserve to understand your options before you're ever asked to make an important financial decision. That's why I explain complex retirement concepts in plain English, not industry jargon. If a strategy is appropriate for your situation, I'll explain why. If it isn't, I'll tell you that too. I'd rather earn your trust than pressure you into a decision, because the best financial decisions are informed decisions.
Why "Plant the Flag™"?
Imagine climbing a mountain. Every time you reach a new summit, you stop, plant a flag, and secure your position before continuing your climb. Why? Because if you lose your footing later, you don't fall all the way back down. Retirement planning should follow that same philosophy. After years of saving and investing, many people have accumulated more wealth than they ever expected, and as retirement approaches, protecting a portion of those gains may become just as important as continuing to pursue growth.
Planting your flag doesn't mean giving up on the market. It doesn't mean trying to predict the next recession. And it certainly doesn't mean putting your entire retirement into one strategy. It simply means understanding when protecting a portion of what you've already earned may help create greater confidence for the future.
What makes my approach different
There are plenty of financial professionals who can show you charts, graphs, and projections. My approach is different. I believe retirement planning should be understandable. You'll never hear me hide behind complicated terminology or titles that sound impressive but leave you wondering what they actually mean. Instead, I focus on helping you answer practical questions:
Am I taking more market risk than I realize? Could taxes reduce more of my income than expected? Should I keep doing exactly what I've been doing? Is there a way to protect a portion of my retirement without giving up future growth? If something happens to me, what does my family actually keep?
Those are the questions that matter.
A conversation I'll never forget
Several years ago, I met with a husband and wife who had done everything right. They had accumulated approximately $3 million for retirement through disciplined saving and years of market growth. The wife had managed much of the investing herself and was proud of the results, and she should have been. During our conversation, I asked a simple question: "What happens if the market experiences a significant decline during the first few years of your retirement?"
The room became quiet. Like many successful investors, they had spent decades learning how to accumulate wealth. They had never stopped to think about how the rules change once retirement begins. After reviewing their goals, income needs, risk tolerance, and long-term priorities, they chose to protect a portion of their retirement assets while keeping the remainder invested for continued growth. They weren't trying to beat the market. They were trying to protect the retirement they'd already earned. That's exactly what the Plant the Flag™ philosophy is designed to help people evaluate.

Honest conversations, clear explanations, no pressure.
- Honest conversations. I'll tell you what I believe is in your best interest, even if that means recommending you stay exactly where you are.
- Clear explanations. You should never leave a meeting more confused than when you arrived.
- No pressure. Major retirement decisions deserve thoughtful consideration, not sales tactics.
- A balanced perspective. I believe in long-term investing, and I also believe there are times when protecting a portion of your assets deserves serious consideration. Those two ideas can exist together.
